Upholstered furniture use and care guidelines
Grace upholstered furniture is designed and manufactured in accordance with DSTU 19917 and DSTU 16371 using high-quality, environmentally friendly materials.
Please note: Your upholstered furniture will keep its good looks for longer if you follow these use and care guidelines. Damage resulting from failure to follow them is not covered by the warranty.
01 Before first use
Please read the following information carefully:
- A new product may have a characteristic smell from the materials used to make the furniture. It disappears after some time.
- Creases may appear on the furniture during transport. To restore its proper shape, simply leave the furniture at room temperature for a while. Loose cushions regain their shape when plumped up by hand.
- With prolonged use, upholstery tends to stretch and develop a more noticeable sheen. Slight impressions may form where people sit most often, creases may appear and the softness of the fillings may change. This is not a manufacturing defect.
- Finishing materials (fabric, faux leather) may differ in shade on different parts of the product due to the manufacturing process, colour rendering under different light sources, specific properties of the pile and so on.
02 How to prevent damage
To prevent possible damage to the furniture, please observe the following requirements.
Placement
- Seating and sleeping furniture must be used indoors under normal conditions: an air temperature between +10 °C and +35 °C and a relative humidity between 45 and 70 %.
- Do not place furniture next to damp walls or in damp rooms.
- Keep furniture at least 0.3 m away from heat sources.
- Do not place furniture in direct sunlight, as this causes the upholstery to partially lose its colour.
Use
- Do not sit on backrests or armrests: overloading can damage the furniture frame or significantly deform the fillings.
- Avoid heavy concentrated loads on the soft parts of the furniture, as they can significantly stretch the upholstery or tear it at the seams.
- Do not place sharp objects on upholstered furniture, as they may damage the upholstery.
- Rough play by children (such as jumping) on upholstered furniture quickly reduces its performance.
- Convertible furniture may only be used for its intended purpose (sitting or lying) when it is fully locked in its folded or unfolded position.
- Protect laminated surfaces from high temperatures and solvents.
Moving and maintenance
- When moving furniture, lift it slightly off the floor. Do not hold it by the upholstery, armrests or cushions, to avoid damaging it.
- Corner models should not be moved after the corner sections have been joined.
- Periodically check the bolted and screwed joints in the furniture frame and tighten them if necessary.
- We do not recommend adding items to finished upholstered furniture sets later, as the shades of the upholstery and trim may not match exactly, which is beyond the manufacturer's control.
03 Furniture care
General furniture care recommendations:
- We recommend cleaning furniture with a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush. This removes dust build-up and helps prevent stains and streaks after wet cleaning.
- Wipe decorative laminated chipboard parts of upholstered furniture periodically with a clean, dry, soft sponge.
- Remember: fresh stains are easier to remove than stains that have soaked deep into the fabric.
- Always read the instructions of any furniture care product carefully before using it.
Do not use
- abrasive pastes, powders or aggressive chemical liquids to clean laminated surfaces;
- cleaning products that contain strong chemicals, high concentrations of alcohol or petroleum-based solvents;
- bleach;
- abrasive or scraping cleaning tools;
- different cleaning products at the same time.
